We love the solitude of walking and wade fishing our favorite Puget Sound beaches, but we all know there are days when, no matter how strong a caster you are, the fish are just out of range. Or that winter day when you know hypothermia is likely to set in if your legs spend one more minute suspended beneath your float tube in some frigid lake water.
These are but a few reasons why we are choosing more and more frequently to fish from fishing-specific kayaks.
These kayaks open up miles of secluded Puget Sound coastline and lakes that are inaccessible by foot and allow you a stealth approach that you just cannot get in a boat; and at a fraction of the cost of purchasing and maintaining a boat and motor.
Native Watercraft’s Slayer Propel kayaks even feature a pedal drive propeller system for hands-free propulsion and a wide yet speedy hull with incredible stability allowing an angler to stand and cast for sight-fishing. Hobie Cat’s Mirage kayaks are also pedal powered with penguin like fins under the kayak that propel it forward with surprising ease.
We have two fleets of pedal drive kayaks for guiding and doing kayak demos (watch our blog and newsletters for dates for demos).
Want to see if kayak fishing is for you? Consider booking a guided trip or sign up for our Hobie First Cast Program. The First Cast program puts you in a boat for half a day for a hundred bucks. The fishing trip includes lunch and if you love the boat we’ll sell you a new one and give you your $100 towards your purchase! For more information click here.
We have Hobie Mirage Outback, Hobie Mirage Revolution 13, and Hobie Mirage Oasis available for rentals here at the shop! They are all set up ready to fish. We even offer a 24 hour rental which allows you to load it up and take it to some remote locations. We also rent fly rods/reels, waders, etc. Give us a call and we’ll get you all set up. 253-851-3474.
If you are ready to take the next step for fishing our region, come into the shop and we will get you outfitted. We also have kayaks available for rental and offer an array of guided fishing trips (including trips featuring kayaks).
